      Somehow I missed this…

Does anyone have a mini they can show off?

METTE BLACK: Black, Black Iris Bud & Black/Black Iris Bloom (May have been called Mette Black Version Two?”)

      TIA

@jcash We can just forage in your garden. All I have here are weeds and wormy acorns. LOL

Ok, who’s going to open the listing for Mette Black?? I only got one the last time around. Big mistake clearly.

Veena, you were so smart to get this in SSF. I should have gotten more SSF when I had the chance.

Well @sims… only if you like tomatoes and cucumbers with some wilted lettuce. The baby hurricane took out the squash. ๐Ÿ˜‚

If nobody else wants to start the Mette Black, Iโ€™ll do it!

Jcash, sorry, I was walking the dog, I just started a listing for the Mette black!

I can’t find minis any upstairs in my collection and I’m beginning to think it was one of those that my dog ate when he went through that unfortunate mini and spool destruction phase. I think Veena might remember that most unmemorable of times.

hkl9066 – I even have a mini labeled in my notes that it was twisted in the forum again because your dog ate it ๐Ÿคฃ

SSF is a life saver for over-one stitching and wherever you want a more delicate look.

Is the Mette Black a brown or maroon please? Too much cross stitching – my peepers are shot. Ty, Gaea (“Gia”)

      Veena,
I know EXACTLY which color you are talking about.

      Gaea,
It is a very dark maroon color.

To clarify: Is there a Black Iris Bud & Black vs. Black Iris Bud & Bloom vs. Black Iris Bloom? My head is spinning LOL

Once upon a time the variegated regular line contained:

      Examplar Black Iris Bloom
      Examplar Black Iris Bud
Examplar Black Iris Bud & Bloom

Then someone twisted Black/ Black Iris Bud/Black/Black iris Bloom and created “Mette Black” in the call forum.

(It may have had something to so with Metta Putfarcken 1848 by Sabine Taterra Gundacker….? (Perhaps – Mette 1811/1825??)

Here is a family portrait of the minis. Notes I made on the back labels of my minis (probably copied from old forum discussions:

Examplar Black Iris Bud – A very dark mauve black
Examplar Black Iris Bloom – Coordinates perfectly with Black Iris Bud
Examplar Black Iris Bud & Bloom – Ex Black Iris Bud + Ex. Black Iris Bloom + Black
Mette Black – Black/ Black Iris Bud/Black/Black iris Bloom

      Omg…so lovely! Thanks Venna!

Question? Can you make a color with 4 parts where 2 of the parts are the same color??
      Like Dmc 310 + 310 + med gray + lighter gray?
      Just wondering for later…Thanks!!

Jill – I love em!!! Any chance you have the numbers so we can request Vikki to dye them? Food and rent are over-rated. ๐Ÿ˜‰
      Thanks so much, Gaea

      @jcash
      Sure…the recipe would be:

310/DMC for your med gray/310/DMC for lighter gray

Just insert the DMC# for your grays. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks so much @luv2stitch2! At some point Iโ€™ll add a color like that to mimic GA Carriage Black.

I don’t have GA Carriage Black, but do you have a DMC book to help you eyeball the shading?
