So I should be sleeping but here’s a question: Why are the HDF colors odd numbers only? πŸ€”

Hmmmmm….never even noticed that before. Now we wait for Vikki to enlighten us. πŸ™‚

@sim-swank Well, I hope you are at least stitching since you are awake and pondering. πŸ™‚

I don’t know about her…. she was DM’ing back and forth with me. But I was stitching!😁
Sadly 4 letters… all counted off the first one… which was IN THE WRONG FREAKING PLACE!!! 🀬 Took me until 4am to unpick.

      🧐 intrigued by the answer…

Because all those decades ago I wanted to make sure I’d have spaces for colors that weren’t invented yet or that DMC might add.

      Vikki
who thinks THAT answer was too simple!

@handdyedfibers_l7nu4k Now we know…and good planning on your part!

Let’s see now…For DMC 1-35 these colors have their own family so we can come up with new names eventually, YAY! —
      1-4, 5-8, 10-12, 20-22, 24-26, 27-29, 30-32, 33-35

I can’t tell if 14-16 fits in with the Popinjays or should have their own family, or if 17-18 fits in with the Umbrages.

So that means 9 will be the darkest Orchid Smoke, 13 is Isle Green 3202 and 19 is Umber 3856 (yay even #s !) and 23 is the lightest Enchanter Rose. Whew, fun times!

      Sim….

      I had a brain surge… ***LOL***

Plus, you get more options if you stick with odds only.

Forget the zero… Choose odd only and you get 1-3-5-7-9 vs 2-4-6-8.

πŸ’‘ πŸ’‘ πŸ’‘ Get it? Amazing how it seems so obvious now!!!

@jcash I totally get frogging until 4:00 am! I have just enough OCD that when I find a mistake, I have to fix it immediately! Some people can put it away and come back to it later…but not me. So I have also been wide awake at 3:00 am pulling out all those stitches.

@lyarrow… I just can’t face starting the new day and having all that frogging to do. It would kill the mood to stitch totally.
I was dead tired but happy!

I never frog if I can help it. Frog only if fudging will be too much work.

      Had to @veena Veena… A B C E is not the standard alphabet. No space for the D! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I’m great at fudging, so no worries there, and I usually do.

Thanks for the explanation Vikki!! Makes perfect sense and having more odds than even is genius. Never really thought about it @luv2stitch2! @sims I REALLY want those pretty purples in the new part of the line. And the lime yellow-greens!
