I'm so bad, I had this finished last week, but this is the first chance I've had to take a picture of it.
It's stitched in Dragon Hoard, Yonder Sky, Rose Quartz, Isle Green and Koi Gold on Vikki's 40ct linen.
I don't know how I'll finish it yet - I'm open to ideas!!! I thought she could put this somewhere near the checkout counter. _________________ My Blog

| Nicole, this is absolutely *wonderful*!! What a superb gift! I love the colors, I love the sentiment, and it has a Vikki touch of humor to it. Way to go! Carolyn |

Nicole:
That's fantastic! There's nothing about it that isn't perfect.
How about a flat-fold finish so it stands on a counter. You know looks like this from the side /\

That's a Blast Nicole ! Love it ... Colorful, quirky and original. As for finishing ... a frame that can sit on a table or be hung? I'm not much help this morning am I? Congrats on your piece, it's 'way cool'

Thank you ladies! I actually emailed Vikki and asked her to pick her favourite colour. Her reply was that she didn't have a favourite, but something with one of the blues would be nice. And that she was sick of fall colours after dying so many of them that week. This was originally going to be in some of the fugue blues and sue-purples, but when pulling out spools, the Dragon Hoard and Yonder Sky just jumped out as being so perfect together.
I love the flat fold idea - I'm going to look into how to do it. I am NOT a finisher, so this will be a challenge!! _________________ My Blog

Nicole:
The easy way is 4 pieces of card all the same size and all sized to the stitched piece with border (I use illustration board - single thick for this stuff, where I use double thick for framing backing).
Lace the stitched piece around 1 board and then the backing fabric(s) around the other 3.
Blind stitch the stitched piece to one of the fabric board pieces and the other two fabric ones together so you have two finished looking pieces.
I usually stitch a cord around the edge where the two pieces come together to finish everything up.
Use a wide piece of ribbon as a 'hinge' and stitch it all the way along the top inside of the two pieces.
Use two more pieces of ribbon, both the same length, to form the bits that keep the triangle from falling flat.
This will en dup being fairly substantial, which is probably a good thing.
I'm happy to do it for you if you're not sure about doing it yourself. I've got a good collection of silk and cotton fabric upstairs (the burgundy kimono silk would probably be great - and I'll send you some if you'd like) and although I've never done a flat fold I've done lots of ornaments using the same methonds.

Nicole, it's wonderful!
Of course, there should be a sign over the outside of the door reading "Abandon hope, all ye who enter..."

Perfect! And it will be well loved and noticed for many, many years. I'm sure once Vikki sees it she'll be thrilled!
If I can ever manage to stay in town for more than a couple of days I'll be finishing my offerings -- I may be sending them on myself late but you know what they say about later. |

It's gorgeous, Nicole!
Someday, maybe you'll have your own shingle to hang out?
